The ideal time to visit Chardham is considered between April and October. The pious yatra to Chardham begins in April-May and continues till Diwali by October-November. In between the monsoon season from July-August is exempted due to heavy rainfall faced by the region. Also, the winter season is strictly avoided due to the unbearable amount of snowfall faced by the Uttarakhand region.
During monsoon season between July and August, the Garhwal region receives great amount of rainfall that poses the threat of landslide that can create several problems. Similarly, during heavy winters, visiting the area during such an extreme climate can pose numerous problems for the pilgrims.
